This is a pressure indicator which considers electricity
generation from coal-fired power stations, of which the 8
coal-fired power stations in Mpumlanga contribute roughly 70%
of the total electricity generated in South Africa. Eskom
reports on particulate emissions produced during power
generation, providing an estimate of the pollution generated
during its activity.

Data |
The relative particulate emissions for the
period 1998 to 2001 is provided below. This figure shows a
decreasing trend in relative particulate emissions (Eskom,
2002).
